What people say: H2SCORE brings green H2 in local Renewable Energy Community
Since its launch, H2SCORE has been welcomed with great enthusiasm by local communities and stakeholders. The project’s experimental infrastructure is bringing innovation to the Valsesia Valley in Piedmont, selected as the demonstration site for the H2SCORE concept. For the first time, green hydrogen is being produced and integrated into a Renewable Energy Community (REC), paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
Local institutions and policy makers have strongly recognised the value of this initiative. Among them, the Mayor of Quarona — directly involved in the project as a partner — and the President of the Valsesia Mountain Community have highlighted H2SCORE as an important opportunity to support the energy transition and climate change adaptation of the valley and its mountain communities.
The project has also received national attention. Italian Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin identified H2SCORE as a significant contribution to the implementation of Italy’s national hydrogen strategy, underlining its positive potential not only for industry, but also for future civilian and community applications.
This encouraging feedback represents a major boost for H2SCORE and confirms the importance of bringing EU-funded research and innovation closer to local communities. The Valsesia Valley is only the first demonstration case: in the coming years, the H2SCORE concept will be replicated in other communities worldwide.
Citizen engagement and collaboration with local stakeholders are also crucial for H2SCORE, where environmental, economic, and social benefits come together to support a cleaner and more inclusive energy transition.
